Wearable Art
Instructions
1.Work from top of design down or place a paper towel between your hand and the fabric to avoid smearing color.
2.Color design with Fabric Fun dye sticks using outlined image as a reference. Press firmly with dye sticks to get stronger colors.Use less pressure for lighter shades. You can also add white or apply two colors over same area to get a new shade.
3.Blend colors with finger to get a softer transition between colors and fewer coloring lines.
4.Personalize with a name or saying or add your own unique image!
5.Place paper towel, wax paper or copy pager over design. Iron on Cotton or hot setting to heat set colors for approximatley 60 seconds.
6.If ironing multiple shirts, ensure the protective barrier(paper) is clean before ironing another garment to prevent color transfer from one shirt to another.
Color Mixing
New colors can be created by blending colors together. Below are a few examples. Practice on a paper towel or peice of paper before coloring shirt. Experiment with different mixtures to create your own unique color!
Tips
Tip: Have Fun! Don't be afraid to color outside
the lines! Add your own special touches to
the shirt. Don't forget to sign your name.
Tip: Keep iron moving and be careful not to scorch.
The ironing cannot really be over done. If there
is any question if the dye is set continue ironing,
being careful not to scortch the fabric.
Tip: After mixing colors, wipe the
tip off with a paper towel to
restore the dye stick to its
original color.
Tip: For greater control and detail
sharpen the dye stick like you
would any other crayon.
Tip: If some sudging occurs don't worry.
When the design is ironed simply avoid the
smudged areas. When the shirt it laundered
it will usually wash out.
Tip: For bright, vivid colors press the dye stick
firmly to the shirt. Some fading is normal
after the first wahsing. It is prefectly fine
color the shirt again after laundering. Simply
heat press the new colors again to set the dye.
